Desta vez vamos falar de phrasal verbs para relações amorosas. Para poderes perceber os exemplos a seguir, vamos ver antes três palavras inglesas:
a) argument – discussão, no sentido de briga
b) discussion – uma conversa, uma troca de ideias
c) date – um encontro para namorar
d) date – enquanto verbo – namorar
Ask out – invite
Why don’t you ask him out to do something?
Fall for – begin to be in love with
He’s starting to fall for him. You can see it in his eyes.
Split up – end the relationship
After three years together, they decided to split up last week.
Put up with – tolerate bad behavior from another person
She puts up with so much from him. It’s making her feel more and more frustrated.
Break up (with) – end the relationship
We can’t agree on anything. We see the world in such different ways. I think we should break up.
Make up (with) – after an argument or fight, finding a way to forgive and discuss things again
Ok, it’s time to make up! Let’s find a way to solve this.
João made up with Rui after a big fight.
Fall out (with) – have an argument with someone that causes them to stop talking to each other
They keep falling out and then making up.
Go out (with) – date someone
They’ve started going out.
Rita went out with João when she was younger.
Get along (with) – have a good relationship with someone
It’s not that easy to get along with her. She’s so angry all the time.
Look up to – respect and admire someone
I really look up to my wife. She inspires me.
Move in (with) – decide to live together
Do you want to move in with me? I feel that we are finally ready.
